Wing and a prayer

Have had a Thanksgiving Prayer about 30 years now. Recited it at my brother’s family gathering when we were there few summers back. Young grand- niece said, “That’s NO prayer!” I told her it’s a wing and a prayer.

Why am I so thankful for all of God’s blessings
when others are so much in need?
Well, I’m thankful because She is not second guessing
and pulling my warranty deed!
Why is She not saying, “Now give me your life
as I’ve given you yours in the past.
Countless others have bled, suffered torture and died.
Did you think ‘nice’ was going to last?”
So I’m thankful, Dear Lord, for this season of peace
when my life has been going so well.
All I ask is this moment of rest and surcease
before you start giving me Hell!

Anyone want a wing? Half white half dark

Nightmare City

Person known me longest is brother Val, born 3 days  less than  2 years prior me ,  Sept  27, 1935 , Clinton OK dust bowl  central,  on the  Washita River and US 66, prone to flood ( when there was rain) gone about a decade due global warming or El Nino, whatever) Been both VERY wet and not too dry since  ’40. I came by  on  24 Sept  37 with  rest of family off  already to US 66 Grapes of Wrath duplication. Seriousest fellow    I know  and I dumped  his  career path to be myself not “Little Val”.  58  years in  education working on up finally retired  twice   as  a Cal State Univ Arcata  Dean in order to suppor   both 1st and second wife. I was  Best man in ’57 and  attended second at a  redwood barron’s  mansion high above. By then son was best man . Told crowd usta be MY job!

This AM had  the horrible news.  Val had been in a fatal accident just  a few miles  from home in McKineyville  on US 101 N of Arcata He’d driven from visiting  my niece and kids  south of  Eureka  when something  wandering crazy along 101 was struck by his R fender.  Killed the  lady who’d been tracked some time as a mental problem appearing  in the  Arcata area.  We talked just now and Val says “She used me to commit suicide “.  All the bad events of late? This is the worst and very personal .  He worries abut  driver license  but CHP say it’s not his concern. Like exactly how not? Well,I told him least his Mexus  was $10,000 @ .10 or $100K this eve. Yeah the family’s all in whilst we stomp  a few wrathful grapes. 8

Don’t be offended, it’s just what we do here in the dome. It’s not personal and you shouldn’t read the comments if you are going to take them that way. The report shouldn’t have released his name imo but they did.

Am a blogger and online msg bd investor and expect shameless comments anom. Val’s a trouper, did his service 6 mo active and 49 Inf Div Band. Worst gig was Shriner E W Games at Kezar. Is .shaken but not stirred to action here. “Let it die” .. Was MY playgound protector San Francisco elementary years. Pleased to oblige though I never bumped anyone 200 missions. Usually on purpose and was required I figgered to get home to no acclaim in ’67. sorry to say. Get more appreciation these days going to Target with Purple Heart plates and nice thots.. All must hate war, most wasteful thing in the world but love your warriors or soon may be none who’ll bother. Naw, usually skips generations like recessive brown eyes/pattern baldness. DIP

I’m with you there. Yeah, should be a plan for all to do something more than combat global warmth as most immediate crisis !
He’ll do fine. We’re pretty tough cookies, Family headed down 66 when I was 2 weeks old Oct ’37. Purely Grapes of Wrath characters grand parents 2 sons and and 2 daughters with kids in tow.. Settled in Oildale along with Buck Owens and and moved to San Francisco where carpenter dad did defense work as 4-F vision night blind ness so built Treasure Island and Hunters Point. Moved to Salinas in ’51 and our bus drove past Steinbeck’s house on Central every morning to close the circle. Mom was a pioneer type and became a nurse in her 40’s but was a sucker for every book salesman with a time payment plan for encyclopedias we’d read cover to cover then she’d get a new set. Both grads of San Jose St Music Dept and while he kept teaching I joined the USAF to not be drafted and made a career until disability retired, still a Capt. He put down root at Humboldt and I wandered world until hospitalized in San Antonio and was a sudden house dad so moved there. My roots a bit more shallow but since ’79. Simply could not have selected a more sincere guy to have this happen as it did straight put of the blue or he says “light evening haze”.

    • Mom I’m sorry that these people don’t understand what happened to you those last couple days we took you to mad river hospital to be seen but you were delusional because of you’re medication and u know you must have stopped by you’re old crash site were you crashed you’re neon. Mom I love you so much it was hard to see you try to get saved by the paramedics but you were already gone but I love you mom now RIP with papa and you’re other son trevor and I will see you again in heaven I love you mom I’m sorry you wanted to walk home but you went missing before that but anyway these people won’t hurt me with there stupid comments because they did not know what had happened to you… love you’re son
      Brendan T Day
R.I.P MOM I’LL SEE YOU IN HEAVEN AND THEN WE CAN TALK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED ON NOVEMBER 22 OF 2015

  • Brendan, we’re NOT stupid; we simply need to know what actually happened in what is, to me then a double tragedy, Just a few feet different in the middle of N bound 101 and loss of control she might have also killed my brother. Also may explains why the EMS crew knew of her. She actually crashed her car at the same place? That and serious meds may explain a lot. I’m pleased you have a faith to sustain you as does my brother Val. Knowing him best you’ll probably hear at some point. .He’s a pretty good counselor, as over 50 years now, thousands of his students can attest. Still in some personal agony over the recent sudden loss of my oldest nephew , Tom, and just visiting one of my nieces he’s holding even closer now? It was something no person needs. Let us grieve a bit as well with you over your mom. Sorry can’t quite cover it. Sincerely, Don Phillips

To celebrate Veterans they closed the banks and stopped the mail but picked up garbage. Means a lousy union or they get time and a half. A lot less more than used to be becoming one each year despite long running wars but some more disabled as the Golden Hour is made vital goal on the battle field so less 21 volleys over the DOA’s. I recall in ’72 when all who worked for me were in the All VOL sevice or least at next re-up. Still big problems how they are getting med benefits and I simply quit when Tricare made med apts simple and pretty swift. Most look little different than non-vets except some obvious missing parts or assists use but all know they are one who served when needed so one in 365 is a trifle in return but thanks for thanks beats the Viet era all to hell. Seem to be closing again on hate the war and the warrior alike as emergency servers are in the cross hairs. But spit and hatred talk never killed us after the fact. 8

Pain in the neck

Dorly had a  spine clinic  apt today but herR knee  is much improved with rooster comb serum inserted so did not wish to go off  warfaren  blood thinner  to get  deep nerve injection  and  fly to New Orleans with clotting issues  Sat. I took it  and  had 3rd  neck injection ( into cervical  spine cord ) following R arm numbness this   Spring and it’s working well. Numbless is down to little finger and pain is near gone and sleeping well any arm position.  Refused sedation as just  makes you sleepy  with the pain anyway and again Dr Hirsch  had  needle gauge issues. 1st  time  went  with a #3 he told me  and did fine.  2nd time he asked what length did I use  so I said no idea so took a #5 and could not get it inserted  between the narrowed disks,  gave up and  did a #3 & was ok with real efforts to pass the  ribbed edge. I said used #3 last time and he said should have said so. I said you asked size not length.

Today I told he used a #3 as #5 would not enter so off we went and after 3  attemts  took a # 5 and  wiggled so finally got the steroid  pumped in. “Needed a  stiff longer #5”

OK in 3 times a different  needle was  needed to get inside  from the last  time.  That’s  precise  science .

Finished, Dr Hirsch sad “That was a tough one!”  I said “You had the easy part.”  Jan follow up we’ll just talk about how it’s gone.  Shit,I was just beginning  to like the S&M sessions on Medicare/Tricare’s  tab. 8

Seems a perfectly fine 3rd qtr review. Cost down and production as well but for easily explained reasons. Lower grades loaded, reduced POG, dollar rise (peso fall) and rainy season after the 2nd qtr. Over all not so super but quite good and best of all? Same damn $44 million in the bank to take on all we need and reduce cost/oz as well we do expect AND still hand us our top skim rake off 20%. I became an award winning USAF Historian in the early 70’a when as Administrative Officer ( Adjutant) in an F-4 maintenenace squadron, I both owned the big IBM Desk sized thing with spread sheet print outs and did the history. Want to know why a thing happened when? recall why the supply cost and man hours went up at the very time and tell abut it story wise. Believe or not? none had ever had the very detailed tools you need and was at the exact point when military went computerized. USAF Europe began to teach my system as military history tries hard to halt George Santyana’s edicts to avoid defeats. Lost on our current POTUS, BTW.

“We must welcome the future, remembering that soon it will be the past; and we must respect the past, remembering that it was once all that was humanly possible.

Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Has become trite today ( the future to him) but George had a brain and knew how both to use and express it to others! 8

Lucky Porsche

Doubt is true. Meantime the  speedster he traded  in for Lil Bastard in Hollywood  was my  combat tour ’66-’67 lucky piece long as  I could keep it on the road. Germany said no in ’71 and would not license it for road use  then trashed it. Flying just  above runway  on a touch and go at Spang one day I  glanced to left  and saw it loaded on a salvage trash truck.  Said, Oh well , Germans are NOT know  as sentimental souls and never   much admired James Dean there in the early 70’s. But here’s # 23 when he had it.

Another one bites the dust

Had  forgotten  over night  dealing with all the  exciting things I did between  bathroom visits  half  asleep  but woke up to Dorly  with a funny  card and  vintage  scotch ( what you gift a geezer has everything ) and  was  a sudden 78! Not appreciable  different  than  yesterday  but  I can say the year’s proven  while   aches and pains  may be no worse they are becoming more frequent  and take longer to resolve. Equally  more difficult  is  dealing  with  the  added stress and strain of  hers more  serious than my own and   life threatening.  Since  late  ’06  when she could suddenly  not walk up the off ramp from Las Vegas  flight  with severe oxygen depravation has come the constant question  what would I do if?  Always reminded  of  the  weekly need to pull the  hall clock  main weight pulley, care less about the other  2,  chimes or the  hours as simply  frills , or  it slows to a stop and we  come with none installed.  So you put off the real planning knowing  it can be delt with when it occurs  as there’s no option. Sufficient  unto the day  the evils thereof.

We think we have her  on the move enough for the   Fri 1:30 flight to New Orleans and  same  time to drive on to Biloxi  for   one of our usual  resort visits SW Air  baggage  handlers keep track of and help her along while  I park.  Be back Tue  about 6PM  same  non- stop we prayed for and recently  got once a day to and from MSY-SAT.  Some things  do get better with time.  Don

And why care?

I can count a rough  80++ mil held me and PT, PLUS his  anti take over preferred  to the limit  allowed.  I can also count about a solid  100 mil held  waiting  SOME gold production somewhere-sometime. Leaves  a missing 50% !  but of late there seem to be none even of interest in  discussing the obvious opposition.   The reason  I post  my discourse  here only. Something’s  badly wrong again on ANY message board.   I spy… HO-HUM… on vacation  call back after October. All’s to say is PT’s humpin’ daily  as family assists for  low pay. Where are rest you loud mouths?

Good enough  on 2nd thot.  Meantime I got a bunch of mails  with what I thought we new certs and  issuing orders.  Opened one and  they all zipped away.  NO trace in  trash. I’ll check  with Debbie  later to see what happed there.  Were  6 or 7  involved.  8

OK Who’s It

Was  boo’s comment  ask and I pretty well  shot it down as well long  pre-July when we surmised  AR was aboard .  I know none, and for certain staunch supporter  Al,   holding  lots that  might continually  make up  sell half of trades for months so my opine on some wish to ruin PPS despite a  loss  seems  possible.  To even  un-restrict  over a year back to have  deposited AND where is that  even possible?  for sell means   at least  a PP at .07.  MAJOR loss at .013, Eh? So why does  it continue ?  If not  taken on as certs the  PPs  ask was up to  a dime a year back. NO get   rich quick, more get poor slow unless a higher goal involved and PT  always feels there is such  reading  our  posts.  Restricted cert  date is based on the day your  funds were  cashed  or deposited  so while not un-restricted  can be  removed on  rct. but again  where and how. Can’t  be deposited so why now?   Action will always remove and reissue and I’d do it as a bunch at once when you do. .   We get back to  the solid  nick I’ll give it a shot  with TDA.  8

Subject: Em Dix
To: cd

Hello Don

You posted a  comment on recent blog speculating about Al Dix’ family  – which essentially means his widow Em Dix. I’m in touch with her by email – I had wanted to see  Al when were were in MT in July but he died the same day were passed thru Missoula and of course I never met him but we traded quite a few emails and that’s continued with Em.

I am positive there’s no selling of shares by Em.  She’s just two months past Al’s death [July 12th] and that is still very fresh and immediate to her.  She does monitor Mexus events.

I’d ask that you might consider removing that comment . If my wife were in similar circumstance i think she’d feel it was intrusive to speculate in public about what a family might be doing.    Al was a long term holder  – lots of faith in Mexus.  Em plans to honor that commitment from all I’ve heard from her.   She’s entitled to some privacy in her financial matters just as I’d want for my wife and I’d guess you for Dorly.  .

Your blog- your call. Just my two cents on the feelings of a widow who genuinely misses her long time partner and husband. I don’t know that Em has seen that comment yet – hope not, probably not but it’s out there and she’s internet savvy.

The log jam of share certs seems to be breaking – Debbie has one en route to me now with  two more pending- not sure why the one year delay but she promises to get caught up soon.   The one en route is the most recent and  not the one paid for Sep 25, 2014 ,. That one’s  a year old and still pending. . hink there’s any way they can issue an unrestricted Cert? I’ll ask her but I suppose not.   From my standpoint I’ve already been thru the one year restriction period.

Have you  updated Robt Allsup at TDA on the Argonaut connection? I plan to drop him a note mostly just to stay in loose touch. I still harbor hope they’ll accept the Certs at some point. Don’t want to pay the gouge prices of the brokers who specialize n OTC stocks like Scottsdale Capital Advisors and Alpine.    Alpine does have the advantage of being in SLC and working on first name basis with staff at Action Stock Transfer.   i have not opened an account with any of them – the costs are  pretty steep to move in and then late to move out.

Looking forward to  December. Don’t see much happening till then unless Paul springs something on us from Ures.  .

And an image below of  Argonaut’s diverse workforce at El Castillo:  Mexican Govt is  encouraging miners to hire widely for admin, lab and heavy equipment operators.

‘I can’t tell you, Father. I don’t want to ruin her reputation.’
“Well, Dominic, I’m sure to find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now. Was it Tina Minetti?’
‘I cannot say.’
‘Was it Teresa Mazzarelli?’
‘I’ll never tell. ‘
‘Was it Nina Capelli?’
‘I’m sorry, but I cannot name her.’

‘My lips are sealed.’
‘Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?’
‘Please, Father, I cannot tell you.’
The priest sighs in frustration.  ‘You’re very tight lipped, and I admire that.  But you’ve sinned and have to atone.   You cannot be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.’
Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco slides over and whispers, ‘What’d you get?’
‘Four months vacation and five good leads.’
