An explorer does not have a mine, nor ore until a feasibility study proves it, and work have begun. Where is the feasibility study?

Anyone for charades?”

Ask Bill Reid, Gold Resource La Arista and Rob McEwen McEwen Mining El Gallo where their Pre fese was? never made. Simply started to dig and make metal they knew was there already. Takes brains and guts not silly opinions to be a RICH miner. Obviously you will never be included that group.

1/2 century on

50 years ago, ’66, I landed at Clark AB PI and asked the crew van driver taking me to the 8th Sqdn HQ who won the race.  From Travis AFB  to Anchorage  then great  circle  rt  over night , NW 707 crossed dateline and refueled in Tokyo so was next day there. Now just needed to learn how to dive bomb with iron stuff, strafe and level pass with Napes and head 21 days later for the fighting 800 mi cross S China Sea. Piece a cake! 200 missions and 15 mo later they let me go home to another job had never done, teach pilots and navs how to orbit just off Thud Ridge N Viet and jam radars! One training device was an ultrasonic water table to simulate radar return and the ridge contour used was a nickle. I’d had no radar at all in SEA. Lot of the world I can still recognize by the scope picture but S & N Viet, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia I’ve never seen but by eyeball. Not exactly useful stuff in the mine biz much underground.

But an odd thing, 321 Bob and I agree the opening gold mines in Viet/Laos karst mtns have greatest danger in OUR unexploded weapons from that era. He’s gone back I didn’t. Few reasons for them, usual fusing was both nose and tail and it either held or released wires run thru the fuse. Want contact instant bang hold both wires & let separation distance prop spin arms both and if a bit after it buries go with tail only. Some reason to use jettison area off coast release both wires ( little electric switch hook ) and simply sinks. NEVER land with them bombs at all possible. Better just leave it all and watch it hit water 1st a good distance away if too banged up to trust a landing. Have someone do a check all stores are gone than can belly in. Live crew can always fly another plane and reason we ran out of B-57s by ’70. Nastiest tho was time delays you want to bury self and go off much later. Had a vial of acetone to slowly eat a plastic plug at a steady rate after armed. Always used a close up bomb nose check so if it smelled like banana oil had a serious need to get it off to a far safe area to dearm. Made for itchy anus until you got them all safely away.  Sometimes the switchology got it all wrong and a dud for them to use against us later. Times bomb loader screwed up as well. I once found an arm wire did NOT run thru the nose fusing prop. Would spin arm 1st time bomb door opened so first good jar might just go BOOM! all she wrote. Is a young man’s game so there’s a great need to grow old in your own time. 8

Well, we closed at 357 & I will say nothing better than a 357 magnum for survival. & We won’t just survive but thrive next week & beyond !” Lucky shooter coming out, do you feel lucky”?, yes I do! ” — con air 1997

nothing better than walking away from a crash…PTL

nothing but blue skies ahead….

There is one thing, not crashing but I if we did , carried a S&W Combat Masterpiece .357 but the bullets are not jacketed and illegal. Copper clad .38’s instead. Not so much shoot way out but the S Asian occasional Tiger on the hunt and bunch of tracers for rescue that would get there if they possibly could. One thing we could really count on! LBJ or Nixon weren’t so reliable but Air Rescue was! I was good BTW, I’d go shoot left handed expert for me in the AM session annually and right handed for a pilot in the PM. Disliked weapons he couldn’t fly. Polite 6′ 4″ Texan and the bang bothered him. 8

Loved my M16-a1, back in the day – 3 round burst, till ya find a dead Ruski…AK-47…20-30 round clips! Spares in web-gear for comfort! But nothing like having comm to the warts, small arms talking to 30mm’s somehow always made me feel the “Upper” hand had my back! Bird Dogs, n assortments of fire suppression n the mix, rescue ops rarely far behind. Good stuff, for a young Buck back in the day !!

Never had more than side arm in cockpit and long time long weapon was MI carbine for officers anyway. Time got to PI ’66 they had us qualify on M-16 and I thought the spring action “twang” louder than a shot itself. Just one occasion to fire on O-1 Bird Dog familiarize mission S of DaNang. Day before I checked one out with 2 20’s taped and after landing off a late light mission up North we took off and directed 3 carrier A-1’s on a French plantation mansion E of Hiway 1. Worst bombers I ever saw, missing it entirely as the prettiest target ever all white columns. Finally last pass we followed the bomb down to bury self under the front porch but was a dud. Fool no doubt did not arm it at all. we joked it’d be dug up and on the trail next morning while a mama san swept up the dirt they made. Pilot Dick said wanna spray your thing. Can’t miss the ground 1000′. Armed the round and he banked left and I fired auto as he yelled STOP!!! Ejects were hitting in the back of flak vest. I thot, didn’t realize out the left was the wrong way to fire? Has any ever done this with him? Then we recced N up the road and he dropped a red smoke right on the path and said check it out. If any run they are confirmed bads we can call it. Farm folk and pigs kept walking both ways so we went slowly on to home base and got some sleep in the after burner bangs and piston roars.

Then I was directly involved in the A-10 Wart Hog/USAF B-57 Canberra ground attack replacement decision on AF Secretary inspection of all the SEA combat flyers for input. Another story I’ve told a few times since ’67. Something would be wise NOT to do! Use him as a 2nd banana straight man! 8

Speaking of walls

First time I was allowed to enter former  Soviet  Bloc was  a ’95 trip to  visit  Lenz Austria  up from Salzburg for a day. Linz has a modern 1928 Gothic  Cathedral Hitler  admired  near  his birthplace. We drove on to the Czech  border and I got out  and crossed with my  passport eyeing the Walther on the Border Policeman’s hip. Till ’91 I’d been arrested  or shot on sight.  Then I checked he  crystal glasses dirt cheap and Dorly came across too but Tom was still active duty and not allowed. Still use the  deep cut glasses  we have left.

Next was  in ’98 coming back again  thru Bavaria and I opted for the  chance to use old E German autobahn leads N to Berlin  and  W to the Rhein. Passing Weimar  we went in and wandered round  Goethe’s  church and  large  reconstruction projects “Here will be built”.  I saw a sign to Buchenwal, took Dorly and her mom who’d never even heard of the place 1st concentration camp ever. Then  I tried  to find a  small road  due  West but there  were none  allowed by  E Germany. Had to go back S to the A Bahn. where they had  check points to the  border double  fencing and kill zone.
Going  to Munich and Bavarian Alps we always passed Dachau they’d known  but sorta  ignored. My brother in law opened Natnl Semiconductor plant  there the  year  we married and they met Dorly  in  Huntington Beach 1971 and moved  to Starnburg below Munich for  2 years.  Johnny described placid  blond farm girls makin micro chips.  Didn’t  pan out  with  enormous fall in price  due over supply world  wide but made  now day  cheap stuff possible.

Game’s the thing, win or lose

Left Harvey’s up $15K. In P.Mill $5 V poker on 3rd $50 bet hit $22,250 Royal flush then moved to $25 bet for another $100,000 to fly home with a #100K check. Some day’s rhey’s fish!
Lousy Thur. Played to 12 and only won $9375 on 3 of $25 VP 4 kinds. I’m the v poker wizzard this week. 8
Love Pmill for full pays and great hi limits, dining and palace like rooms but no place else in world to spend it. Spend much more at Caesars over all but treated better here. Still hard to beat Harvey’s/Harrah’s Hi Limits just due to Lake off the balcony. Have great Hostess at Biloxi but they cut back to 9-5 I live with as she ok’s any offer close to our date there. Usually makes up for the flush loss to even out and that’s a lovely view of salt water. Have to enjoy while it lasts and recall the 10-7 days of yore til they began to catch on.. Now except for full deuces some and don’t enjoy the game needing full attention, the comps are the only plus odds. I play Jacks in my sleep upside down and loaded at 4AM.
Carano family owns both ElD and Silver legacy 100% now and Sterling Steak house has one magnifico Sunday brunch oysters lox crab . Fri nites usually feature sea food all buffet places. We’re eating at ElD tonight Roxy’s with best friend Geoff. Last eve we took it easy at Oceano P Mill with 12 oysters and she had ahi tuna stack and me a big bowl ciopino so much I took some to the room to finish later. Eldorado the family opened ( now wine growers too and Glen was UNLV and Cowboy’s QB) long time back ’73 as 1st casino across the RR tracks now sunken used to block Virgina St. Had entrance to hotel central around the casino 1st I ever saw now kinda std and 1st place ever with a roulette marquee to show the plays past. My Horseshoe dealer in Vegas always said’d ruin the game but I could finally quit using a pencil and score card to count winners in last 15 or so plays. Now I just play it for fun and still see I can eke out as a small winner on 8 blacks around the wheel zeros plus 17 in the middle of the board. Means bet 9 to win 35 in avg 4 spins then double to the max bet. Win big early in series puts you ahead and back to bet 1. Get ahead and push it all on black and leave  win or lose. Why it’s easy and fun and folks gasp! Me and Bond, James!

LODE

Wrote a lengthy review of LODE meet but it simply disappeared. Not much really new but I’ll be seeing a mine video with Scott on Thurs and do it again after. Would take me but is RELLY Muddy down there. Goes under rebuilt 342 so can’t view the portal. Biggest new deal is riches possible in land division with Tesla building big in Story County. $8 bil project so far and perhaps cars built as well as batteries and home elect systems. And hey there’s rockets too but nearer water I’d think. Not time to rush right out and buy bunches as I’d still await a mine plan ongoing. Biggie there now is reducing overhang and using $120 mil tax credits in the losing mine period. As I did mention, the concept behind buy low sell high is the low entry and given good reason to feel it will increase as the entire purpose in investing. Thus is not all bad to be down. A few do read here and came up. I mentioned Dave Solomon and he was one of the first people Corrado met on his initial visit and he filled meet on recent cancer and the Dead Saints book. Later.

About 50 there and was a real question and answer with no solid
stuff to speak of but options aplenty. Some kept up asking for a 3-1 R but told not much gained with $1 PPS. I said concept of buy low sell hi is a low entry with decent feel given for future gain as that’s called investing. Am Tunnel is considered a real partner and will work for shares in tunnel, core dills and surface mine. Not big RC drillers as that’s surface explore. One big factor in future is the $120 mil tax write off from long exploration where never been expensed. Had the usual hour with Story Cnty Business Industry park guy told of the last 16 years from lowest tax base in the US to an amazing corporate involvement with Tesla the last. Really like the Comstock as where it began and changed face of the town for good. Were told the Comstock name has value and constant contacts now as a place may be to steer cash not in market. I asked if Comstock Metal is a bother and he smiled and said this AM already has calls on last from them.

We often comment our son wont stop to pick up a penny. While it is like about more effort than it’s worth it IS cash and any more than 99 are a $1 bill . Then I laugh and tell her one of the fun things you can do is see just how far you can throw it and let someone else have the exercise as well. About as philosophic as I get up here on the mount. 8
