Who Sterling? Hayden?

“eventually running guns and supplies to Yugoslav partisans through the German blockade of the Adriatic, as well as parachuting into Croatia for guerrilla activities. Won Silver Star and citation from Tito of Yugoslavia. Briefly flirted with Communist Party membership due to friendship with Yugoslav Communists. Returned to film work, which he despised, in order to pay for a succession of sailing vessels.”

Well did fill a screen but most thu pure size. Joan Crawford’s awful Johnny Guitar his worst ever? Cue “The Wanderer”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuqI7yid3ew

According to his 1963 memoir “Wanderer”, Hayden reluctantly accepted a co-starring role in A Summer Place (1959) for $40,000 (approximately $314,000 in 2012 dollars) when his ex-wife Betty Ann de Noon prevented him from sailing to Scandinavia in his sloop

One a kind fer sure and may admire that. EARNED any Silver Star and thus my guy not acting tough there as Newman- Scott- Gleason .

Scott:Shortly before the END of World War II, in 1945, Scott joined the Marines. After completing bootcamp, he was stationed in Washington, D.C and where he often assigned to guard duty at Arlington National Cemetery. His subsequent four-year tour was marked with heavy drinking and a raft of nose-breaking barroom brawls

Newman: Again close no cigar no fault own;
“He later flew as a turret gunner in an Avenger torpedo bomber. As a radioman-gunner, he was ordered aboard the USS Bunker Hill with a draft of replacements shortly before the Battle of Okinawa in the spring of 1945. His pilot’s ear infection kept their plane grounded while the rest of their squadron continued to the aircraft carrier. Days later the rest of their unit on the USS Bunker Hill were among those killed when the ship was the target of a kamikaze attack.” Least was there for training

Gleason? No service ever prolly a med reason as seeming healthy young adult. Closest was his co-star Art Carney wounded in leg as a Normandy Machine gunner with permanent limp you can see. 8

Typic of my own reseach…will post on BIO blog 8

Bit explain. Fall ’14 we flew to Sydney and began Park West VIP cruise to end Aukland New Zeeland after Aus. Melbourn 2nd stop. Coasting up the west side S Island 2nd stop was at Wellington and Wing Nut studio tour. Guide was a men’s Univ Prof and extra on all the 3 Rings like about all else. Took us to initial shot made on Victoria Hill middle of town. Was the Hobbits hiding from the Black Rider tho farmer’s corn field was way down the island. Below the pathway edge a small hidey hole was made and the 4 huddled there. When someone tumbling down says “think I broke something” was no carrot, was a gag line because an extra broke his arm on the prep shot as stunt double. As we left I picked up a small tree branch and used as a staff up to the bus stop. Decided was a cool thing so kept it. I call it a hobbit sized wand and use today going for the mail up the block with a cute soccer prize head for the grip. Dorly said I can’t take that on a 777and I said watch me. Going thru the Sydney customs to fly home the lady saw me using it and directed us to the handicapped line even with her on oxygen and here I am the Gold Wizzard. YOU SHALLL NOT PASS! Park West Pres old traveling buddy Marc Scaglione DID buy a wizard pointy wool hat at the studio cave but not me. It’s a fake but my mini-wand’s real as Mexus now proves. 8

Love the Fish & Chips Halibut

Uh,  Is the only reason we go there now. Phil’s an old buddy. Step dad was electrician at Kaiser Sea water chemical plant by the steam plant so lived there in the now Antiques store in 1950-51. We’d spend endless days wanderin the beach and watchin giant sharks cut open for liver. He went to Kaiser

Phil did me a Nov ’10 $2K banquet for the family at youngest sis memorial Queen of Heaven overlooks the valley. above 101. All family trooped W to back room at Phil’s for enormous crab run had just started and endless Cioppino . He quit working and lets others run it now. Wanted to just close and retire but was too famous. People ask how to know yer there. Giant steam towers PG&E’s too easy. It’s when more than 10 artichokes for $1 on the road signs. Placed flowers then drove to Phil’s then to Carmel back to M’try Wharf back up to China Town Café off Grant. Got my brother noon at SFO and we had a full days younger life.
