It  was about  a 20 minute  drive  from our house  in Stahl on  the  tiny Nimms River  outside  N.  Bitburg to my  office, 2nd  floor  Base  Ops   Spangdahlem Air  Base and   Eifel  NATO Military radar  control tower.  Parked  my  spot,  Base Airfield  Manager, and  walked  up 2 flights .  Giesela , my  secretary, met me  at  her  desk and  told me Saigon had  fallen!  I took a  deep breath, sighed, “What a  loss!”  Thought of all the  friends   long  gone and  got  to work keeping  the  future  together hauling  nukes  around  the  ammo storage/ preparation area  up to Alert  facility on ready  24/7 .  Takes  convictions from childhood answering,   “What  is an American?”  Someone  tell POTUS.  DIP
