How to predict the future

Damn! Thot was just tinnitus in my good left ear what’s 50% left of hearing. Some 50%’s are more equal than other 50%s. Perhaps I’ll write Animal Rancho when I finally quit and jus rock. 8

I wrote it in 1973 as my sorta Management Master Thesis for George Terry PhD ran Nwestern Mgt School and the one reorganized Peoria IL Cat plant after Patton tanks in WW2. Was to see 50 years in future 2023. Title “A nation of Kelly Girls”. Everybody is temp employee in a new place every month getting to work on supersonic tube trains. Huge population means live in nasty spots made livable and work on the coast for transport ease of goods. Some bits true already or soon. George lived near Bitburg as Ball St semester teaching DoD grad student program Europe in tiny Philippsheim. We both thot that was cool. Fun gent! And see that winding road up top of hill and back downto Speicher? WW2 was where 8th AF dumped unused bombs as a nasty Nazi place of note. I’d teach F-4 jocks to drive the $4200 911Ts Dorly sold how to drive a Porsche. They then drove me back to Bitburg dealership she’d built winter ’70. Gosh was a while back now. Just 7 from that fifty!

Brave New World. You were spot on. Your NW days were back
when formal education actually worked. Strong management dept at NW.
I had interesting prof from there Steve Dee, was on founding team for Montana Power. Glad your independent thinking survived the schooling.

Well NW weren’t in picture. We used some their published texts but they forced George to retire at 70 and Ball State welcomed a brilliant guy open arms. George had always wanted to get to Germany to live awhile and became Ball St’s Mgt Prof for DoD MA on GI Bill in Public Service at Bitburg that semester. Subjects’d switch from Govt Economics to Sociology, Public Health, Mgt over 2 years and while no formal Thesis each rqd a paper as written work for examination. Terry’s the most fun predicting future. My premise was is not so much brand new( TI 4 function calculator was latest wiz bang and IBM card sorter was still basic computer available ) but some things grow enormously more so. Is obvious the microchip which existed became it ALL and Moore’s Law the bible! What I found was a lot of fun to get back to good discussion with different ways educated bright people and not just study how to kill people better important to survival as that was and that I still had an open minded approach with my brain. Sometime rather off the wall. 8
Closest ever to Muncie was a night Indianapolis crossing US Mcguire AFB NJ from Germany in Sept ’75 to CA mom’s then Abilene TX C-130s last assign never flew again till Lackland at Neurosurgery ward Jan ’77 as tried to rehab me never did much good. In decade since ’67 had bone spurs growing all over. A nice P Therapist advised me be careful moving head or could sever own cord and be paralyzed neck down. Did kill left arm twice had to relearn how to use fingers again. 1st 1990 last in ’10. Gettin there again so say do the surgery. Any way not lots of alumn feel for Ball St (Mason Jar U, Ball Bros financed start). San Jose St BA and Texas Tech EdD were home where I actually lived. Ed bldg at Bit and Spang were never more than class space few nights a week 2 years. But BX cafe for a beer class break was handy. What I actually did best was try to say something funny when clock hit 9PM as Prof gave assign and class left in great humor laughing. Not much changed since. 8
