                      Post Traumatic  Stress

Lived with it now 50 years. In 80’s VA had me in discussion gps with mostly young guys there in last stages 70’s Nice no cigar. Days of ice cream and decent milk W of Hawaii. Not much assist. Had it diagnosed when it got a name but the Shrink wanted his cash before he’d even say so and I just let it rest with the VA and more than enough to 100% disabled called unemployability as boost to Max benefits but take the pay and got hell away from 6 mo apts in jam packed waiting rooms with great DoD Tricare Well Med gp finally. At least we won that war against recruiter lies way back. Became house hubby rising son while she sold houses and THEN found a way to make a fortune sitting at table drinking coffee. Very simple family USAA brokerage acts and a modem or call to ask quotes and it all blossomed so I finally realized I’d access to so much more research than ever dreamed about in library search in my EdD program at Texas Tech and here we is talking in it. Took much effort to actually get to places to check them out but with a good idea what was to be found already and cut to the chase and bring the findings home. So yep, self medicate is good Dewers or aged Single Malt ( great story behind that in Lossemouth RNAF base Scotland one rainy afternoon 1969 on 1st day Atlantic Gooney Bird ferry flght to US). Really doesn’t change that much just makes stylistics a lot more the same. And am pretty well known for a style decades now. Well beyond See Dick and Jane or even toss in Spot and Fluffy.

So was awarded all 5 DFC’s before ever saw one and while all look alike that one’s special in mind along with another downgrade Silver Star ( idea was Saigon’d decide our troops are too good so award a lesser for same real justification made them sent along to begin with). Once I was having a gone bad root canal sliced open to remove amalgam floating and constant infection. Up on the Dentists’s wall W Hall Med Center was a DFC for heroism. USAF Accademy grad became a doc. Put in it’s place for a time when near all I knew every day were heros. 8

Night and day. We were the one!

Often say last decade now I’ll park with PH, Dis Vet or now TX DFC plate & Air Medal ( 4 vehicles & great advantages by TX congress free plates & park) and get “Thank you for your service” as a wild swing from 60’s back home to SFO NO uniforms after Travis AFB mil charter! But is starting to sound like ’68 once again and no DoD invites on ultra lib campi.

BTW I choose to write here and transfer to blog in partic. questions more pvt than on MGSG. While all have own story as yours exact agewise, it’s what shapes decisions and a pretty interesting few eras did mine up brown,; cold-hot then cold and now terrorism with insurgency then not that far off. I asked pilot, B Flt Cmd Maj Peebles on 1st ferry B-57 for combat loss replace to DaNang as I coasted us in S of DaNang & we low leveled N along Hway 1 for me a good view of really magnifico hi cliffs ( I’d put my resort by that w’fall to the white sand beach!) “Maj P, why’d we blow up all the road an RR bridges?”
“Don, we didn’t blow up anything here in the South!”

Me… “OH!” A light dawned! But I blew the crap out all was left then up North night and day next 18 months and had fun doing it back to them too, amongst many instances O sheer terror.

NIGHT DIVE BOMBING IN MTNS IS one word only… WILD!!!

But came back alive and thinking some a bit of the long process in a single such life multiplied 100Ks times over until now next to NOBODY
